5 Stars Worth the money
I looked many hours between this one and the In-Step Safari. I chose this one because it looked slimmer and I liked the longer canopy for my children. I was glad I chose this one.I LOVE THIS STROLLER!!! It fits trough the door of my house as well as through stores. Just not through aisles, as is the case with all side by side double strollers. The canopy is great. It covers all of the kids except their feet, which is expected. It’s extremely light weight, easy to fold and maneuver. I love the red/black check pattern. Other reviews talk about the seats reclining at an awkward angle, however, it appears that the angle is no different than any other jogging stroller. It makes it so you can run and know that the kids are going anywhere from those seats. The cushions are cushy and personally, my kids look very cozy together in this stroller. I have a 3 year old and 7 month old boys. The only negative is that the black handle, while being very soft, tears easily from stored on the ground, as the stroller folds in half, and sits on the handle. I bought the schwinn double stroller storage bag for under $40.00 to further protect it. Overall, I would pick this one again. Also, it has an awesome compartment with zippers and sort on the handle for water, keys, wallet, cell phone, etc. It’s everything you need in a stoller.
2 Stars Be Careful! I Wish I Had Known This…
My husband and I couldn’t wait to receive and start using this stroller. We currently own the Free Wheeler single version, so we felt confident ordering the Free Wheeler Double. The product specifications states that the stroller supports 50 pounds per child.
When the stroller arrived, we quickly started putting it together. Our two year old immediately jumped in and wanted to go for a ride. My husband started pushing our two year old and four month old around the kitchen. I couldn’t help but notice a HUGE problem right away. Our two year old’s head was well over the steel frame of the seat back. It was resting, quite uncomfortably, at the base of his skull.
Our son’s height is very average, not tall for his age at all, so this left us scratching our heads. Could the seat backs be raised? Nope. We turned and looked at our four month old. His head already reaches the very top of the seat back. If this stroller is designed for up to two 50 pound children, they must be very short and quite pudgy.
There was one other problem as well. Notice the really nice shoulder support pads sewn into the harness system? They are no longer a feature. This feature was important to us since our baby would need the extra support and padding. The packaging still displays this as an option as well.
I called the manufacturer of this stroller, Pacific Cycle, and spoke with Brenda regarding our findings. She was very unhelpful, rude, and pretty condescending. She stated that there had been a design change, and that we were out of luck with the shoulder harness. She also stated that all of their strollers, Schwinn, InStep…etc. have a standard 17.5 inch seat back. 17.5 inches? Is that a joke? They don’t offer a stroller that has higher seats.
I measured the seat back on our year 2007 single model, and it measures a good 20 inches. A pretty significant difference. So, design changes have been made, but for the worse. The company is charging more, while saving money by cheapening their strollers. Bad move.
So now we are stuck trying to return the stroller, but nobody wants to claim responsibility for the problem. So, we are filing a report with American Express.
The good news? Yes, there is some. We found and purchased a GREAT stroller from REI. The staff at REI were all extremely helpful. We purchased a BOB Revolution Duallie Double Jogging stroller and we couldn’t be happier. It is considerably more expensive but worth every penny. Our sons can actually use it for years to come. If you want a stroller for a child older than 6 months old, you will need to buy a BOB. Good Luck!!!
5 Stars LOVE IT. -Just go ahead & get it!
I have a 3 1/2 yr old & an 8 month old. After my last was born, I began searching for a double jogging stroller. I totally had my heart set on the Baby Jogger Mini Duplex but just couldn’t bring myself to cough up that much money for a stroller.
Anyway, it took me 6-1/2 months to finally decided. I bought this exact stroller at a different site on roll back. I AM SO GLAD that I went with this one. It was still a little pricier than I wanted but my birthday was around the same time, so I just had people throw in on it. It’s super easy to fold & unfold. It turns on a dime, with one hand (just fingers). The wheel swivels but you can lock it if you want. It’s got the nice bike tires that can “off road”. It fits through every door that I have tried. (Even when I didn’t think that I would). It has a larger canopy than most of the others. Plus there is a rain/bug screen that unzips from the inside of the canopy. The seats have a nice divider so that the kids aren’t leaning into each other. And the handle-bar is adjustable. I asked my son if he loved it & he said yes. His only complaint is that the padding for the seat is a little thin & so he feels the steel bar behind his head. -But he said that he would still rather ride in that one than our old one (which was just a single). I folded up a receiving blanket to put under his head & it fixed the problem. He climbs in & out with out it tipping.
I don’t know. I just stinking love it. I am so glad that I finally decided on it.For the price, this was what I wanted. These two items AREN’T on my complaint list, I am just sharing because it may matter to you…. The storage area can come on & off with velcro. It’s made from the same material as the canopy that nylon blend stuff (?) It holds my diaper bag that is a pretty good size, but I think that some other review somewhere said that it was too small or frayed up. Well, if you fill it too full, it probably would drag the ground & fray. I think it has a decent amount of storage. I mean good Lord, it is carrying two kids & you still want it to fit through a door way!!! The handle bars are pretty strong. Bring a recycle/canvas bag & hang it from the handle bars for extra storage. -But I still think that it’s a good amount of space.
And my only other thing is only directed to people that have just begun their search. Most of the joggers don’t have cup holders/parent tray’s yada yada. This has some bag (that actually works to hold maybe a bottle/can drink, keys, phone, smokes, camera (whatev…) -But no matter what jogger you get, you will probably have to buy the adjustable cup holders separate. -Sold on line or in stores. etc. So just prepare yourself. Anyway, I love it. I am most thrilled. Oh & this was neat too… the manual says that we can buy a kit & hook this up to a bike. That was pretty exciting. Anyway, if you’re wondering how active I am… well, I got this to power walk with & to shop with. -But I have jogged about 50 feet with it & it seemed just fine! If you require a hand brake (I don’t) it doesn’t have one. I could only imagine that must be beneficial to heavy joggers going down hill or something… I don’t need it! -Did I tell you that I LOVE THIS STROLLER!
